Today's technology in steam cleaners consists of two basic systems, the so called single tank and twin-tank.
The single tank system is the classic steam cleaner to have a pressurized boiler closed with a safety cap. When the water in the boiler is over, it is necessary to cool down the appliance before opening the safety cap and refilling it with new water.
The twin-tank system provides a separate, cold refilling tank and the water is fed into the boiler automatically, only when needed. This is called the continuous steam system. This system involves more components and an electronic circuit to control the levels. It is recommended when the appliance is used for long periods continuously.
